The Coptic Language Summer School 2024 offers an immersive experience, suitable for both beginners and advanced learners, for students, scholars, and enthusiasts of ancient religious history. The program provides a comprehensive and grounded understanding of the Coptic language, with an emphasis on the Sahidic variety.
The Beginner course ensures a solid introduction in Coptic grammar and morphology, fostering basic proficiency in reading and translating simple Coptic texts, while the Advanced course, designed for those with previous knowledge of the language, delves into the reading and translation of more complex Coptic texts, complemented by specialized lectures. The course is taught in English.
Deadlines:
Early bird deadline: 15 March 2024 (Advanced Course), 30 March, 2024 (Beginner course);
Ultimate application deadline: 15 April 2024 (Advanced Course), 8 May, 2024 (Beginner course)
Key Dates: The Coptic Language Summer School 2024 will provide a dynamic learning experience with a combination of online sessions and an in-person residency in Rome.
The online component will consist of five sessions every Wednesday, starting on May 29, 2024, from 3 to 5 PM CEST for the Beginner course, and eight sessions every Friday, starting on May 3, 2024, from 3 to 5 PM CEST for the Advanced course.
The in-person part will be held in Rome from July 22 to July 26, 2024, for both courses. This immersive residency aims to enhance participants’ proficiency through interactive sessions and practical exercises.
